Audi and Porsche to develop a common platform for electric cars

This is not the first time Porsche and Audi have worked together, this time they will team up for their future electric cars. Recall that both belong to the car giant Volkswagen (VW). Both manufacturers already share some components.  For example, the Porsche Cayenne and Macan have the same chassis as the Audi Q7 and Q5. This mutualisation will continue in the era of the electric car, the two partners  will indeed develop a new common platform .
Oliver Blume (Porsche) and Rupert Stadler (Audi) revealed in an interview that the two companies will jointly develop this project that will be used for new electric vehicles by 2021. Audi plans to build two sedans and SUVs while Porsche has not yet specified the type of models it will produce.
Both brands hope to achieve savings , the development of their own individual platforms would obviously be more expensive. Since electric cars are the future of the automotive industry, big brands can not afford to miss out on this opportunity to work on them. Yet, despite the savings, this project would still cost the group " a sum of one billion euros " by 2025.
